Title Research: Godfather Of Harlem


Godfather of Harlem is a crime drama that takes place in the early 60s where the main character has to fight the law to gain control from the Italian mob which now controls the neighborhood he once lived in.


- What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?


The titles displayed during the opening sequence contain the title of the movie, the company which produced the movie which is an epix original series and an abc signature production. The following titles include the names of the actors and pictures of famous people.They all fade in and out to the following scene.


 - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?


The images prioritized in the opening sequence were images of high racial tension in America. Showing important black figures in music an sports and of communities in Harlem as well as a picture of John f. Kennedy who was for equality in America. this can be seen as early 60's America.


 - What connotations do these images carry?


These images carry a connotation of what it was like back when racial tension was at its speak and America was split into two different americas. Being someone of importance meant being someone who could stand on what they represent. Especially in these times where there was a reason to be important.


- How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

It creates a dramatic effect by showing moments of hope in the black community at that point of time with  its cultural figures and how it could carry on its purpose. The editing used gets a lot of old videos to which they cut right into the nec=xt giving a sense of when and where the movie took place.


 - What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?


The strategies used are the images and videos used in the title. As well as the sequence they are put in which gets the viewer asking questions about what the film could be about.


 - How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques.

Technology was used effectively in the editing to give the opening sequence an older feel to it. It uses a lot of cut scenes to get right to the purpose of where its taking place which is the early 60's. It also does this by having the images move and make it appear as if the images were ripped out a newspaper. The scenes to which they cut into are all videos of very important figures in the time period. All who which represented equality for the black community.

Genre Research: Queen And Slim

 Q ueen and Slim is another great movie. It gives off a different version of Bonnie and Clyde. The movie tells about two young adults, male and female, being on the run for the murder of a police officer after being pulled over one night. The two were at first, on a regular date getting to know each other and as they are on the way home, they are stopped by a white male police officer and was gunned down by him when he shot the female. After that the man shot the police officer and then they fled the scene and that's how their story begins. This movie is a great movie to put into the drama section. There are so many dramatic scenes in this movies from the beginning to the end. The scenes that had all of the action and heartfelt parts in it carried the movie the way it was supposed to be carried. Production Blog: We pick Sunday!!!

 After enough decision making our group finally came to a conclusion on what and how everything we get done. Due to the fact we haven't recorded our final film, we are still throughout the second portion of our project. We will be recording this Sunday. Leading us to the finish line and being almost done. By then everybody in the group should have their individual clips filmed. While also remembering all parts accordingly. Leading us to not have as many mistakes and dealings pushing forward with the film process. Doing it this way will give us a great amount of editing time, allowing us to turn in the film by Thursday at the latest.
