Production Blog: Our recording Process

My group and I agreed to begin recording our final task during the break. In the first scene of our film, we started recording it piece by piece. We expected it to be complicated, but it turned out to be very easy. The first scene of our film is set in a room where a teen girl is contemplating suicide. We used various camera angles to slow down and reveal a small section of the room. Vividly showing the details on the attempt of her life throughout the beginning of the scene. The laptop, as well as her own bed set, were used as props in this scene. The only thing you see in the first few seconds of the movie is this. In the first shot, we used my group member Aniya Smith, as the kid. The remaining members as well as myself will continue to record until it is our turn to act. We met up at Aniya's house to film the first scene.  We all had parental approval that it was okay for all family members to participate at her home. Since we are in the midst of a global pandemic, we have chosen to do so for serious health reasons. We started working as soon as we all arrived, while we shot many times to ensure that we had everything we needed to create the perfect film. We made certain that the camera angle was fine, that the lighting allowed us to see the actors, and that each actor in the scene was performing their part correctly and following the lines. Our group found the recording process to be very easy.  In Aniya's house due to the fact that the sun shines directly into her bedroom, it provided enough illumination to see what is going on clearly and adequately. We are going to keep going this upcoming weekend. We agree that breaking each scene up and doing them at various times is helpful to all of us because some of us have jobs and other obligations. I am the editor throughout this film and I've already started editing different parts and having fun doing it. We have a musician on our team and we've been putting together something great to help everything come together and look great.
