Genre Research: Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures is a movie based on suffrage that African American women faced back in the 1900s. The movie was based on a true story about three African American women working at the NASA station and they deal with things such as racism and segregation throughout their lives in and outside of work. The film came out in 2017 and has touched many people. The screen play of the movie was excellent and it specifically cut out details from what really happened. For the final task, my group and i have chose to do the drama genre. This movie provides a lot of drama as it tells the story of what happened. It has many different dramatic features throughout the movie such as one of the dramatic long, emotional scenes that the movie had and dramatic actions that the women took during the movie. The different conversations that were happening throughout the movie were very interesting to me. They spoke about real life things that happened at that period of time. The different conversations they held spoke power into them and different emotions flew through each character during those scenes. The scenes had a way of speaking to the audience in an inspirational way that touched many people in many different ways. The other different scenes I liked was the acting scenes. In the scenes where action took place, part of it was very dramatic. In these scenes, the drama aspect comes in when something is bound to happen. When this happens, myself and other audiences could feel the dramatic tension that is about to happen in the scene. This movie is one of my favorites. It has touched souls since it came out and it shows the real meaning of what equality should look and feel like. Besides racial equality, it also touches on this such as women suffrage and what women had to face especially working with men. Watching the movie, I understand that it was really a struggle for  Black African American women to do anything. And if they were granted the chance to, they were lucky. The women in this movie had a chance to work at a huge organization such as NASA itself because of their brains and the way that they have evolved throughout the movie from not being noticed to being someone important was my favorite part of this movie. In my eyes it was a great movie and nothing was wrong with how they directed it concerning the drama genre.
